Viper makes a great product and this is no exception. I'm installing it my 98 Cobra so I don't need a remote start and some of the other bells and whistles included in the higher end units. Once the install is complete I'll comment again.

I purchased this alarm due to the increase in vehicle break ins on my area. My other vehicle which has an alarm was broken into and my wife and I didn't even hear the alarm due to the design of our house and double pain windows which prevent a lot of sound coming through. Luckily nothing of stolen except for some change in the ash tray. But the car this alarm was untapped into has an upgrade stereo system, custom wheels, and other features. This alarm is great. The 2-way system works perfectly. The install did take me a while, a full weekend due to te fact that I am not an expert so I took my time and checked every wire that I was taping on to to make sure it was the right one and that wires were run with the factory harness.

I recommend this alarm to anyone that's looking for a good alarm system but doesn't have an extra arm and a leg to give away. If you are going intall it yourself make sure you have a wiring diagram for your vehicle. Trust me it will help shave a few hours off the install and guessing process! But if you are going to take it to a shop to have it installed, get ready to pay up to $200.

It's a good basic alarm but I don't like the on board shock sensor. This makes it difficult to mount the brain in an ideal location under the dash without compromising the sensor sensitivity. If you want to take advantage of the programming feature, you need a bit writer. This can be expensive...another way the manufacturer makes more money. In the end, I returned the unit for another alarm brand.
